Common Questions

What clients ask about our fees.

Do you earn commissions?

Our advice is paid for through the fees on this page. Rubiq is a fee-based firm. Rubiq provides advice on insurance products and may earn a fee from placing funds with life insurance companies, a conflict of interest we disclose.

Fee-only vs. fee-based: what’s the difference?

Are you a fiduciary?

Yes. When we provide investment advice through our advisory relationship, we are legally required to act in your best interest.

What is a fiduciary financial advisor?

Is the advisory fee tax-deductible?

For most individual investors, generally not under current federal law. Ask your tax professional about your situation.

Are there other costs?

Normal trading costs are included in our advisory fee. Funds and ETFs carry their own internal expenses, and trades you direct yourself may carry a fee. We show you all of these before you sign anything.

Is there a minimum?

Wealth management starts at $500,000 in managed assets. Planning-only engagements have no asset minimum.

Can I leave anytime?

Yes. Either of us can end the relationship at any time with written notice, and any unearned fees you have prepaid for the quarter are refunded.
